Method
 

  1. Pat the chicken dry and season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Pour half a cup of barbecue sauce into the bottom of the crock pot.
  3. Add chopped onions and garlic (optional) to the bottom of the crock pot.
  4. Place the seasoned chicken on top of the sauce or onion-garlic base.
  5. Pour another half cup of barbecue sauce over the chicken.
  6. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-5 hours depending on cut and time availability.
  7. Once cooked, shred the chicken using two forks and mix it back into the sauce.
  8. Serve with your choice of sides.
