  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup bell pepper, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 15-ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • as needed Hamburger buns
  • to taste Optional toppings: coleslaw, pickles, hot sauce

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and add ground chicken, browning it while breaking it up.
  2. Add diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and Cajun seasoning, cooking for one minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in chicken broth, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce; season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns lightly and assemble the mixture onto the buns with optional toppings.
