Ingredients

  • 1 lb Monon Meats smoked sausage thinly sliced
  • 2 lbs potatoes diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Pot for boiling potatoes
  • Colander for draining
  • Measuring cups and spoons

  • Oven mitts for safety

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Boil water in a large pot and add the diced potatoes. Cook until fork-tender, about 10–15 minutes. Drain the potatoes and let them rest briefly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the boiled potatoes, sliced smoked sausage, ranch dressing mix, milk, and melted butter. Stir gently to coat everything evenly.
  4. Fold in half of the shredded cheddar cheese into the mixture. Pour it into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden brown. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For more flavor, consider sprinkling crispy fried onions on top during the last five minutes of baking. You can substitute sweet potatoes for regular potatoes or use turkey sausage for a leaner option. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat in the microwave with a splash of milk to maintain moisture.
