- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Boil water in a large pot and add the diced potatoes. Cook until fork-tender, about 10–15 minutes. Drain the potatoes and let them rest briefly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the boiled potatoes, sliced smoked sausage, ranch dressing mix, milk, and melted butter. Stir gently to coat everything evenly.
- Fold in half of the shredded cheddar cheese into the mixture. Pour it into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden brown. Let it cool slightly before serving.
