Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 cup pitted fresh or frozen cherries, chopped
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chunks

Method
 

  1. Heat the heavy cream and milk in a saucepan over medium heat, avoiding boiling.
  2. Whisk together sugar and egg yolks in a separate bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Slowly pour the warm cream mixture into the egg mixture, stirring constantly.
  4. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, then chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours.
  5. Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  6. When almost done, gently fold in the chopped cherries and dark chocolate chunks.
  7. Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for another 2 hours.
