Ingredients
  

  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 oz softened cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup minced fresh strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream for the final drizzle

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt; add softened butter and mix until crumbly.
  3. Pour in the foamy yeast mixture, along with the egg and vanilla; stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes; place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  5. While it rises, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth; mix strawberries with granulated sugar.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C); punch down risen dough and roll into a 12x18 inch rectangle.
  7. Spread cream cheese mixture over the dough, scatter strawberries, roll tightly, and seal the seam.
  8. Slice the roll into 8 equal pieces and place in a greased 9x9 inch baking pan.
  9. Brush tops with melted butter and let rise for 20 minutes; bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Pour heavy cream over warm rolls; let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
