Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat for a healthier twist)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for the filling)
  • q.s. icing made with powdered sugar and milk (optional)

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, a pinch of sugar, and yeast, then let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Pour the activated yeast mixture into a large bowl and add melted butter, eggs, remaining sugar, and salt.
  3. Gradually stir in the flour until a soft dough forms; knead by hand or with a stand mixer.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, roll it out into a rectangle, spread melted butter, and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Roll the dough tightly and seal the edge with water; cut into slices or shape into a loaf.
  7. Place in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes; preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown, brushing the top with melted butter after baking.
