Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened 2 sticks
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup sour cream, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for glaze
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk or cream for glaze
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract for glaze

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease a Bundt pan well.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, shortening, and granulated sugar for 5 to 7 minutes until pale and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then incorporate one-third of the flour mixture and half of the sour cream. Repeat, ending with the final third of flour and the vanilla extract.
  5. Spoon the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, checking for doneness after 1 hour.
  6. While the cake cools, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl for the glaze until smooth.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 25 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely, glaze it, and serve.
