Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef preferably 80/20 for flavor and juiciness
  • 4 slices hamburger buns brioche or potato buns
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers mix of colors preferred
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 4 slices turkey bacon or regular pork bacon

Method
 

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop pan over medium heat.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano; form into four patties.
  3. Cook turkey bacon in a skillet until crispy (3-4 minutes each side); place on a paper towel to drain.
  4. Grill beef patties for 5-7 minutes on one side; flip and cook for another 5-7 minutes or until desired doneness.
  5. While cooking, toast hamburger buns on the grill or under the broiler briefly.
  6. Once patties are cooked, top each with a slice of turkey bacon and a generous handful of mozzarella cheese; cover to melt cheese for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Assemble burgers by spreading pizza sauce on the bottom half of each bun, adding the cheesy patty, mushrooms, and bell peppers; place the top bun on.
