Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 pieces onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz pasta (such as fettuccine or penne)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • q.s. salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • q.s. fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Pot for boiling pasta
  • Colander for draining pasta
  • Mixing bowl

Method

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, add thinly sliced onions and a pinch of salt, and cook until soft and golden brown (15-20 minutes).
  2. In another pan, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up, until no longer pink (5-7 minutes) and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add minced garlic to the browned beef and cook for another minute, then combine with the caramelized onions. Pour in heavy cream and simmer until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Boil salted water in a large pot, add pasta, and cook according to package instructions until al dente; drain and add to the sauce.
  5. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth, adjust seasoning if needed, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.
