Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup uncooked rice
  • 1/2 head cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • to taste salt & pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Wooden spoon
  • Baking foil
  • Cheese grater if shredding cheese yourself

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with chopped onion.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half the chopped cabbage, then the meat mixture, and then the remaining cabbage.
  6. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  7. Remove foil, sprinkle with cheese (if using), and bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  8. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
