Ingredients
  

  • 450 g all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 225 ml warm milk
  • 50 g granulated sugar
  • 1 good pinch salt
  • 50 g softened butter
  • 25 g fresh yeast

Method
 

  1. Take warm milk and crumble in the fresh yeast, stir gently until dissolved.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt to combine.
  3. Pour yeasty milk, crack in the eggs, and add softened butter into the well in the flour mixture, then mix until no dry flour remains.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (1 to 1.5 hours).
  6. Punch down the dough to release air and divide it into portions, shaping into balls or ovals.
  7. Place shaped dough on a parchment-lined baking tray and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush tops with milk or egg wash and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
