  • 1 pound egg noodles or preferred pasta
  • to taste Salt for pasta water
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream optional
  • to taste tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese optional
  • to taste tablespoon lemon juice optional
  • to taste pinch fresh herbs e.g., parsley or basil (optional)
  • to taste pinch red pepper flakes optional
  • to taste cup crispy breadcrumbs optional
  • to taste pound shrimp optional
  • to taste cup broccoli optional

Method
 

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions.
  2. While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat.
  3. Once the butter starts to foam, add the minced garlic and stir constantly for about 30 seconds until fragrant and light golden.
  4. Reserve at least 1 cup of pasta water before draining the noodles.
  5. Add the drained noodles to the skillet with the garlic butter and toss to coat.
  6. Slowly add a splash of reserved pasta water to the noodles, stirring to emulsify the sauce.
  7. If desired, stir in heavy cream for extra richness.
  8. Optionally, toss in grated Parmesan cheese and a squeeze of lemon juice for added flavor.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh herbs or any additional toppings as desired.
