  • 4 slices cheddar cheese or your favorite melting cheese
  • 4 units burger buns brioche or potato buns are ideal
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened

Method
 

  1. Form the ground beef into four equal-sized patties without overworking the meat.
  2. Season both sides of the patties generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing.
  4. Spread softened butter on the cut sides of the burger buns.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat and toast the buns until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Heat your grill or skillet to medium-high heat.
  7. Place the patties on the grill and cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes per side.
  8. Add a slice of cheese to each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover briefly to melt.
  9. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun and adding preferred toppings, then closing with the top bun.
