Our twist on lemon cream squares becomes jalapeno popper wontons. Irresistible crispy baked cups filled with creamy, spicy, bacon-cheddar goodness. Perfect easy party appetizer.

Ingredients
  

  • 12 sheets wonton wrappers
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3 jalapeños deseeded and finely minced
  • 1 clove garlic finely minced
  • 1/2 cup green onions sliced thin
  • 8 oz bacon cooked and finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

  • Standard 12-cup muffin tin
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Spoon or cookie scoop for filling
  • Pastry brush for oil

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a standard 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick spray or oil.
  2. Press a wonton wrapper into each muffin cup, creating a ruffled cup shape.
  3. Pre-bake the cups for 6 to 8 minutes, until they turn light golden brown.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sour cream, minced garlic, jalapeños, green onions, most of the bacon, salt, and pepper until creamy.
  5. Fill each wonton cup with the mixture to the top.
  6. Top with reserved bacon and cheddar cheese, garnishing with a slice of jalapeño if desired.
  7. Bake for an additional 8 to 10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes
