Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup water or milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1 cup mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
  • optional toppings: chopped nuts, seeds, honey or maple syrup, yogurt

Method
 

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water or milk with 1/2 cup of rolled oats.
  2. Add a pinch of salt to enhance flavor.
  3. Turn the heat to medium and stir occasionally until the oats absorb most of the liquid (about 5 minutes).
  4. For a creamier texture, adjust the liquid ratio to your preference and cook longer if desired.
  5. If using a microwave, combine the oats and liquid in a large microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 2.5 to 3 minutes.
  6. To finish, top the cooked oats with sliced banana and mixed berries.
  7. Add any additional toppings you like before serving.
