Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb flank steak or ribeye (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 medium onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
  • 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup marinara sauce
  • to taste optional toppings: mushrooms, banana peppers, or red pepper flakes

Equipment

  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Tongs
  • Baking sheet
  • Broiler or oven

Method
 

  1. Season the thinly sliced steak with salt, pepper, and olive oil.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the steak for about 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add a bit more oil and sauté the onions and bell peppers until soft and caramelized (about 5 minutes).
  4. Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise and layer them with steak, sautéed veggies, and mozzarella.
  5. Place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden.
  6. Top with a spoonful of marinara sauce before serving.
