  • 1 ½ cups crushed pretzels
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 cup dulce de leche or caramel sauce
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • to taste flaky sea salt, for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and sugar; mix until it resembles wet sand.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a tart pan, making sure it’s evenly distributed.
  4. Bake for 8–10 minutes, then let it cool completely.
  5. Spread a layer of dulce de leche or caramel sauce over the cooled crust.
  6. In a heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate with the heavy cream using a microwave or double boiler; stir until glossy and smooth.
  7. Pour the chocolate over the caramel layer and tilt the pan to spread it evenly.
  8. Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top.
