Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans trimmed
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes optional, for heat

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Start by washing and trimming the ends of your green beans. If they’re particularly long, cut them in half for easier eating.
  2. Heat olive oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet.
  3. Once shimmering, toss in the green beans and let them sear undisturbed for about 2-3 minutes until they develop a slight char.
  4. Add the minced garlic and stir quickly to coat the beans, cooking for another minute or two until the garlic turns golden but doesn’t burn.
  5. Finish with salt, freshly ground black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Toss everything and transfer to a serving platter.
