Ingredients
  

  • 2.25 lb ground beef ground chuck or preferred
  • 1 large or 2 medium onions diced
  • 4 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1.5 tsp adobo
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp basil paste or 1/2 tsp fresh basil, chopped
  • 1.5 cups bell peppers diced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 24 oz jars pasta sauce
  • 2 Roma tomatoes diced
  • 1 tbsp fresh cilantro chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley
  • 2 green onions/scallions chopped
  • 3 sprigs thyme
  • 1.5 tbsp light brown sugar or sugar substitute
  • q.s. Parmesan cheese freshly grated

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat; drain excess oil.
  2. Add diced onions and chopped garlic; cook until onions are translucent (about 5 minutes).
  3. Stir in adobo, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika; combine well.
  4. Add diced onions and bell peppers; cook until they start to soften (about 5 minutes) and stir in Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Pour in pasta sauce and diced Roma tomatoes; stir and let simmer (covered) for 20 minutes.
  6. Add basil paste (or fresh basil), oregano, Italian seasoning, thyme, cilantro, parsley, and green onions; stir in brown sugar.
  7. Reduce heat and let sauce simmer for another 10-15 minutes before serving over pasta topped with Parmesan cheese.
