Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 cup whole milk at room temperature
  • 2 cups unsalted butter softened
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour spooned and leveled
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract optional, but highly recommended

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Mixer
  • Spatula
  • 10-12 cup Bundt pan
  • Sifter

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and grease a 10 or 12-cup Bundt pan thoroughly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together on medium-high speed for 5-7 minutes until pale and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then alternate adding the flour and milk, starting with flour and ending with flour, mixing until smooth.
  4. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, checking for doneness at 1 hour 20 minutes.
  5. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Make the glaze by whisking together the sifted powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until thick but pourable.
  7. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake and serve.
