- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are softened and fragrant.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the crumbled cornbread, sautéed vegetables, chicken broth, beaten eggs, dried sage, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Pour the mixture evenly into the dish, spreading it out smoothly. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the dressing is set.
- Let the cornbread dressing cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve it warm.
