Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf cornbread, crumbled (about 6 cups)
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp dried sage
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Method
 

  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are softened and fragrant.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the crumbled cornbread, sautéed vegetables, chicken broth, beaten eggs, dried sage, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
  3. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Pour the mixture evenly into the dish, spreading it out smoothly. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the dressing is set.
  4. Let the cornbread dressing cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve it warm.
