Ingredients
  

  • 1 liter apple juice the rich, cloudy kind is best
  • 500 ml orange juice freshly squeezed or good-quality bottled
  • 250 ml lemon-lime soda or ginger ale
  • 1 orange sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 lemon sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 apple preferably crisp red variety like Gala or Honeycrisp, diced
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 3 whole cloves
  • a few sprigs fresh mint

Equipment

  • Large glass pitcher
  • Sharp knife and cutting board
  • Long spoon for stirring
  • Measuring jug for juices
  • Glasses for serving

Method
 

  1. Pour the apple and orange juices into a large glass pitcher.
  2. Gently add the lemon-lime soda or ginger ale.
  3. Add the orange and lemon slices, followed by the diced apple.
  4. Drop in the cinnamon stick and cloves.
  5. Stir gently with a long spoon to mix the ingredients without crushing the fruit.
  6. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  7. Just before serving, add ice cubes and mint sprigs for garnish.
