  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • q.s. salt to taste
  • q.s. freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • q.s. dill pickle slices to taste
  • q.s. ketchup to taste
  • q.s. mustard to taste
  • q.s. thinly sliced onions to taste

Equipment

  • Large skillet or griddle
  • Spatula
  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Small bowl for garlic butter

Method

  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, salt, and parsley (if using); set aside.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions, roll into balls, then flatten into thin patties; season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil; cook the patties for 2-3 minutes per side.
  4. Place a slice of American cheese on top of half the patties, then stack another patty on top to create the double burgers.
  5. Spread garlic butter on the insides of each bun and toast them, buttered side down, on a skillet until golden and crispy.
  6. Assemble the burgers with double patties on the bottom half of the bun, adding dill pickles, ketchup, mustard, and onions as desired, then top with the other half of the bun.
  7. Serve immediately with a side of your favorite dishes.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the garlic butter. You can substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken for a leaner version. Toast the buns right before assembling to keep them warm and crispy. Store cooked patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in a skillet for best results.
