  • 1 (11 oz) can mandarin oranges well drained
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries halved (plus a few extra for garnish)
  • 1 (7 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 (8 oz) container frozen whipped topping like Cool Whip, thawed
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • a tiny pinch salt

Method
 

  1. Drain the crushed pineapple and mandarin oranges in a colander; press gently with paper towels to remove excess liquid.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed whipped topping, sour cream, vanilla extract, and salt; fold until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the well-drained fruit, halved cherries, mini marshmallows, and shredded coconut to the creamy base; gently fold to combine without crushing the fruit.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to chill and allow flavors to meld.
